Postmodern
Just wanted to throw a question out for everyone - kind of an informal poll.
What do you think of when you hear the term "postmodern," "postmodernist," or "postmodernist"? Please don't look it up or go to a dictionary, I would just like to see what general thoughts are about the terms. And keep it honest (don't look at any other comments - if there are any- before you answer).
Thanks!

makes me think of someone who is progressive in their thinking. or like there was at one time a modernist by definition (though it really doesn't fit anymore), but now the "modernist" is paradoxicly(?) historical, so someone who actually is modern in their way of thinking is therefore dubbed post-modern. there.
i think of the conflict between the tradtional church trying and the emerging church over who gets to define the next generation (and emerging christians) by that word. i think it is a concept highly misunderstood and twisted by people to buttonhole others into categories in order to feel more comfortable about themselves. i think it is used by people who don't understand the concept, or have a limited understanding of the concept, to marginalize and the separate.
that's my first thought, but you know i have a LOT of others.
by the way, your eddingals comment is spam.
Well, my answer would be tainted by years of study in the subject...so I will just say I am so thankful for the coments already and hope others can post a few more...Thanks Greg!
How about an admission of absolute ignorance. Don't recall ever hearing the word in my 70+ years of puttering around this world.
I'm tempted to search for a clear definition.
